Vegan Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Lately I cannot get enough peanut butter - my go to is PB2. I eat it throughout the day.  Recently my friend sent me a copy of  Blossom's Mayim's Vegan Table I went strait for the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. I made it on a Friday night for the weekend. All day Saturday I dreamed of that pie. Once home, I sliced an organic banana and sliced the pie and we went to town on it! So good, so tasty and so easy. I even shared it with my neighbor who raved about it.  You can buy all the ingredients (which amount to 4 unless you include bananas) at Target for about $8. The pie crust I bought (Keebler - accidentally vegan) made 8 pieces of pie making it an affordable treat.
I believe this weekend calls for me to make another one.

Republic of the V (Berkeley, CA)

Bring your wallets and get ready to shop! When we stopped by Republic of the V last Saturday I wish I had won the lotto the week before. So much stuff that I wanted - things I did not even know were out on the vegan market.  So many vegan goodies from top shelf to counter - all arranged in a cool, clean space with plenty of breathing room.

Some Snacks to get you in the munching mood - from chips to jerky to loads of vegan chocolate they have all your snacking needs covered.

Frozen food never looked so good! Pizza, burgers, taquitos and more are up in the case!

So much stuff I could have run around and shopped for hours, but we had a BART to catch. I ended up with some new stuff to try out: Sriracha jerky, cola flavored kombucha, lip balm, chocolates, sweets, a new shopping bag. I cannot wait to head back and do more shopping.

Republic of V is located at 1624 University Avenue in Glorious Berkeley, CA. Just a few blocks from Pizza Moda! Wow!

[Vegan MOFO] Friday Finds - Costco Is Where It's At!

I have had a Costco membership for a few years now. We get gas there every week and once in awhile go in to see if anything is new. Well, last month that changed and we are going weekly to see the new loot they get in since launching an organic section.
It started with loaves of par baked rosemary bread,  really good baked up cheezey garlic bread style and grabbing a case of Blue Diamond unsweetened vanilla almond milk. It blossomed into buying more almond milk, vegan cookbooks, price checking Mar's meds, baking supplies: like ridiculously cheap organic agave nectar and last weekends holy grail - a case of Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

These are Matt's favorite candy bar! So when I saw them I directed Matt's attention to them and in the cart they went! I like them a lot to! I like that the big box contains individually wrapped cups for lunchbox packing and conscious snacking.

So check out Costco! I know Costco carries different products at different locations. However, you never know what you will find. I know I want to go shopping there tomorrow!

East Bay Vegan Sweets

Some yummy treats were had in Berkeley last weekend besides the cupcakes from the RPSC event.

We finally made it to Cinnaholic before meeting up with friends at Saturn Cafe to score a cinnamon roll. We just went for fast and picked a already made brownie chunk combo. The treat was made within ten minutes and was perfectly warm in my hands, I wanted to dig in right then but was saving the treat till we were on our way home later in the night.
The cinnamon roll was super good even after sitting in the car for a few hours. My favorite part was the frosting - I can see why people do frosting shots of this stuff! Next time I am going to get seperate rolls for Matt and I - that way I can go crazy with flavors and he can play it safe!

After dinner we decided to go grab a cup of coffee, as we rounded the corner everyone stopped at Cakes and Purls window, Matt was like "they have vegan stuff"...I ran in, plunked down $3 for a vegan banana cream cupcake and took a card to go. The shop was cute, the owner/person behind the counter was nice and it had me thinking I really need to get out my knitting needles!
The cupcake got a lil squished by the next day, but it was still tasty. I liked the cake part, Mar did too. Nice real banana flavor and moist. I am not a frosting person (unless it is like a cinnamon roll drizzle or something cream cheeze based) so my "meh" on the frosting is not important, but Matt said it was good.

[day 9] Rice Kirspy Treats!

Yup - I made rice krispy treats the other day and they reminded me of youthful days when my mom would make them for me! For 15 or so years I had yet to have a decent rice krispy treat due to lack of decent vegan marshmallows. Then Dandies came along and made me go all nostalgic for the treats of my youth!

[Rice Krispy Treats - Vegan Style]
6 cups of Barbara's Brown Rice Crisps cereal*
1 bag of Dandies
2 tablespoons of Earth Balance

Melt EB in a large pan, when melted add Dandies, let melt over medium heat for a few minutes until they are melted (stir them every few minutes). Add cereal, turn off heat and mix well. Put mixture into a lubed 8X8 pan (or larger if you like thinner treats) and let cool for a hour!

*Original Rice Krispies are said to contain D3 - lanolin - ick!
