It Feels Like Summer

Concerts - check! Last Saturday we got to see Morrissey in Stockton at The Bob Hope Theater again! We love when he plays here because unlike the bay area he does not cancel this stop and it is 30 or so minutes away from our home! Perfect right! It was such a great show! I am so glad that we get to see him yet again in Northern California!

BBQ - check! We bought a grill last week, nothing fancy just something for grill newbies and since then we have been having fun times with yummy vegan grilled food. Jumbo veggie dogs, kabobs, veggie links...We are grilling more this weekend! I can't wait!

A few summer musts are already checked off my list and it is not even summer yet! This will be a great summer - I can feel it!

Vegan Food Swap

Look at these yummy treats I received in the vegan food swap from my partner Shelby over at Every Day Vegan Girl. I can see why the mail man forgot to give me my box (it was hiding at the PO for 5 or more days!)...Actually Shelby lives about an hour from me and I knew my package had to be at the PO and had the staff search for it because I wanted my stuff!!! I have been drinking the goji berry matcha tea daily, the Steaz energy drink was refreshing (I went out and bought more!) and so many other yummy treats I have been sampling like beet chips and lil healthy chocolate chip cookies!

Thank you so much for the treats and introducing me to some new favorites!

PB&J Time!

I picked these bars up over the weekend and since the first bite I am hooked! Usually when it comes to vegan bars Luna is not the first bar brand I go to, the calories are way high (candy bar territory, I rather spend my calories on a real candy bar) and the taste is sometimes off. These bars are 120 calories and taste yummy! They are sweet and the texture is moist. I love them with tea before I do yoga in the morning! I want to go buy the other flavors now!

Backyard Oasis

I want to turn my backyard into a calming retreat, a personal oasis. I bought a Buddha statue last week and hope to add some cat safe herbs and flowers to the yard soon. I want it to smell like natural incense!

Birthday Guy!

Yesterday Matt turned 26! He got off early and enjoyed a vanilla bean soy Frap and I made him vegan BBQ 'chicken' pizza on a whole wheat crust (paired with tatter tots - his request) and spice cake for dessert! One of the gifts I got him was Herban Cowboy cologne (I actually forgot to put it in his gift bag) - it smells really nice - spicy and warm.

So much love to my wonderful birthday guy from Mar and I both! Now come over here so I can sniff you!

Black Keys & Sacramento

Last Saturday we got to see the Black Keys play with the Arctic Monkeys in Sacramento at the Power House Pavilion. I bought the tickets like 6 months ago to celebrate Matt's birthday this week (he saw them like 7 years ago!). It was a huge concert and the show they put on was really great!

We got up to Sacramento late. We had a late lunch at Pita Kitchen Plus - my new favorite place! Really good sandwiches and vegan baklava! The mint lemonade is so yummy - I described it as a mouth orgasm! We did a bit of shopping at Whole Foods, hit up Never Felt Better and while we were waiting for food for a light dinner ( I had two $2 tacos - pictured above and a bite of Matt's Reuben)  to be prepped at Sugar Plum Vegan* I bought a zine and some local music at Phono Select.

A really fun day in Sacramento and I can't wait to go back and have more baklava!

*New owners, same problems. Food running out and service that is slow and not really organized.

American FlatBread Vegan Harvest Pizza

When you are under the weather, nothing sounds good yet you are hungry, you do not use a microwave and want something fast - what do you do? Well, I found American FlatBread had a vegan option (Vegan Harvest) last night at the store, picked it up and brought it home. I am not a fan of frozen pizza, the price for a vegan frozen pizza makes me gag just as much as the taste! I should note the pizza was on sale for $5.99 - cheap for vegan frozen pizza!
So once home, I preheated my oven, tossed in the pizza and waited for 8 minutes, took it out and took a bite. I have to say it is a pretty good pizza. Matt even stated he thought it was good. I really like the crusts texture, it reminds me of naan bread, I am not even a thin crust person! It is a small pizza, I do not know how it is labeled family size, it is more like a personal sized pizza. Maybe I am just really hungry? Whatever the case may be I will pick this up again!

2012 Modesto's Vegan Bake Sale

I am bad - I only snapped this one picture from the vegan bake sale I organized on Saturday! Good news is we raised over $200 dollars to help cats in need! People came out and picked up cookies, blondies, hazelnut-chocolate pillow puffs, banana-nut bread and more. We even got to Greens Market to have lots of vegan options ready for customers in the hot case! It was a nice sunny day- and I got a little to much sun! I will be back at it again next year!
