Vegan MAC Makeup List

About 6 years ago I wrote an article based on MAC cosmetics being vegan, I found info online and made a list. Well, I get emails weekly about it. Then I decided to let Cruelty Free Face post my list and it has been down lately. My boyfriend told me just to post the list and I am finally just going for it.

Before I give you the list here is some info that will help you with MAC. Each counter should have a book with ingredients - ask to see it. Usually neutral colors (think brown here) will be free of carmine. Customer service online is great if you ask a question through live chat, they are also friendlier than asking someone working at a counter - let's face it cosmetic counter workers can be snobby!

This list is not complete, it is rather old but gives you a starting point so you can be aware of vegan items. Currently my MAC makeup stash is low, I use a few products but not many, my makeup collection is a mix, maybe I will go through it and post one day!

Pizza Party!

Last weekend we had a mini pizza party in the back yard! I made 3 pizzas, here are 2 of them. The third was just a plain cheeze pizza because some people like it simple! All cheeze used is Daiya!

Pineapple and bear shaped faux-ham!

Pineapple and jalapeno - a new fave combo.

I got to meet my Twitter friend Iamsunshine78 for the first time and she brought over a yummy BBQ 'chicken' pizza! It is pictured right in the middle as Matt plays pizza slicer!

This week I experimented a bit with pizza toppings. I made a vegan version of a buffalo wing pizza. It was good - but it was super hot! I have some more combos up my sleeve. Since the store down the street started carrying Rustic Crust I get pizza super fast and don't have to treat pizza like a special occasion thing!

Mar's Nap Time

I snapped this pick yesterday as Mar was sleeping on his back. I did not want to turn on the overhead light so it is kinda dark but - look how cute he is!!!!

Lust Item - Not So Lusty

When I first saw the new Urban Decay lash curler I was so excited! I ran to 2 Sephora stores and had no luck. Last Friday the local store finally got it in so I bought it. The next day I woke up psyched to test it out!
I went through my makeup routine, waiting for the unveiling of my new tool from the box and went to get busy on lush lashes. Um, it did not work out that way. First of all the finger slots are tiny - I do not have man hands or anything - the slots just felt oddly tiny. Second my lashes did not curl...The biggest deal breaker was when I looked at the curler I noticed a clump of my lashes on the pad!

So I am taking this back! I have my couple of years old Shu Uemura that may pinch on occasion but has never taken out lashes!

Two Products In My Current Rotation

Here are two products I am currently using! Both vegan of course!

I am a sucker for scrubs...I am also a sucker for green tea. Combine the two and you have a super awesome scrub from St. Ives. While I think the scrub smells like perfume and not green tea, the sent smells clean and gets my face clean! It is not harsh like some scrubs and I can use it daily. Bonus you can pick it up at drug stores and the big box stores for under $5!

A month or so ago I ordered some eye cream from 100% Pure, due to some glitch my order was never processed (though I paid). It took almost a month to get what I ordered so I got some freebies thrown in. My fave product I tried out is the watermelon lip butter. It is a sheer pink with a hint of flavor.

Another Saturday Spent In Sacramento

We went to Sacramento last Saturday to try to do a lot of things and accomplished most of our goals. At the end of the day going to a concert was a no go - we were way to tired!

We checked out Veg Fest: which I was a bit let down by. A few of the vendors should have not been there. One women selling skin care did not know what vegan meant and was rude when I asked her if her products were vegan...she said yes but after reading ingredients they were not. We only stayed a bit, we were stuffed from lunch , did not buy food, sampled some yummy frozen vegan icees and I bought a few zines. On top of that - you can tell from the photo above it was packed and I wanted to get out of there!

We headed over to Art 4 Art Sake so I can get tattooed by Chris. He did a super kick ass job on my Mar portrait as you can see! I recommend him/his shop if you are in the Sacramento area!

I did some shopping at Lush and Whole Foods and we looked around. I did not get any food porn pics, my phone decided to give out on me early! It was a great day though!

Simply Spiced Potato Salad

[Simply Spiced Potato Salad]
4 medium red potatoes - washed & chopped into irregular chunks
1/4 cup Vegenaise (or fave vegan mayo)
1 tablespoon of mustard
2 teaspoons of Mohhini Vegetable Blend spices (I get this at the farmer's market)
1 teaspoon of chili powder

Boil enough water to cover potatoes a large stock pot. Once water is boiling, add potatoes and let cook for 10 minutes. Drain water from potatoes and let them stand at for about 30 minutes to cool down. In the same pot with the potatoes (to save on dish washing time) mix Vegenaise, mustard and spices into the potatoes till they are coated. Let potato salad chill in a container with a tight lid in the fridge for a few hours. You can also eat it warm - Matt likes it this way!

Lately I have been making this dish for lunch for Matt and I even brought it to a potluck over the weekend. I bought these little plastic containers at the store that are great for a nice serving of hearty potato salad. I make it the night before and just throw everything together in the morning in his lunch bag.
I know most potato salads contain things like onions and olives...Matt does not like these things. He was not even sure about Vegenaise - but both him and Mar like it! Feel free to add anything you fancy. The spice mixture from the farmer's market punches up the color beautifully and makes it smell wonderful. The spice mixture is almost incence like on it's own - very nicely fragrant! I would check out the site and order some!

World Cat Day!

It is World Cat Day! It is time to take a moment out to blog about your feline friends!

By now you know my 14 year old big boy Mar but you might not know about his name! Many people just pronounce Mar as it is Mar(ch) - which is the month he was born in! However it is like night(Mar)e. If you are not confused yet - Mar is short for Marilyn - which people think is a odd name for a boy kitty. However Mar is named after Marilyn Manson who I was really into in my late teens when Mar was plopped into my lap!

This weekend I hope to finally get my Mar tattoo done. I have waited for ever to finally find an artist that gets it! It will be my longest sit down session - I am ready!!!

Flat Mar

If you know me - you know I am allergic to rabbits. I was told I could not be allergic to them because bunnies are hypoallergenic - it must be they hay. I was around hay - no problems. It is the sweet bunnies I cannot handle. I still will pet bunnies until I cannot breathe and run gasping for bunny free air though!

Enter Flat Bonnie maker of super cute custom bunny plushes. I loved the work instantly! I thought of the possibility of a Flat Mar and sent a request and flat cat magic was born! I was hesitant at first because lately my artistic request of Mar have been not met with great success (due to my request not being taken to seriously perhaps)...When I got the sketches I was smitten, asked for Mar's white V on his forehead and sat back.

This is Flat Mar - complete with baby cancer fighting tail from Flat Bonnie's blog! That bottom right pic is how Mar sleeps next to me!

I took a quick picture of Mar and flat Mar last night. Mar wanted dinner and was grumpy from having a puppy in his backyard (the people turning our jungle into an actual yard brought their puppy over the last few days)...

Go get your flatty customs - NOW!!!!!

New Necklaces

I love cute accessories! I go for cute, odd or colorful to dress up basic black tees!

I bought a Heartsy deal for Kuma Crafts and had a hard time deciding what to buy because of all the cuteness! I chose a necklace with 3 things that I love: cats, strawberries and hearts!

This is my second necklace from Cherryboop and a late arriving gift from Matt for my bday. I love her wicked bad ass laser cut necklaces! They get a lot of compliments and have the perfect sized chain!
