Cross Stitch Stuff

This is a piece for Never Felt Better to auction off and raise money for Harvest Home next Saturday! I was feeling a bit cheeky!

I am working on tons of projects right now! I have the habit of starting something and in the middle just trying to start something else! I really have found my cross stitch groove though! I love making little xxxxx marks all day!

Beer Hair!

Through some lucky-luck* I scored a free bottle of Duffy's Brew shampoo and conditioner within weeks of each other. I have been loving the products since I first tried them. This is not my first time with beer hair care but what makes these products unique is that they do not have a hops-yeast-beer smell. They smell like a tropical vacation (or so what I have been told a tropical vacation smells like) - coconut and sunshine. My hair is shiny and the scent lingers all day long - even in between washings!
Each bottle has a unisex vibe to it. 100% vegan, SLS-Free & Phthalate -Free, loaded with good for your hair stuff and of course contains beer. Even if you do not like beer you will like this shampoo!

*they had a promo survey and a email promo going on their FaceBook page that let me score these goodies!

Breathe!

Let's start off with kitty bellies! When Mar's belly is exposed like this I just want to bury my face in his fluffy fur! Yes - I will be itchy and yes - I might walk away with a few scratches but oh my that fluffy fur!
I am taking some time to play catch up with my life. The last few weeks have been crazy busy and I was feeling it both psychically and mentally. Matt had shooting days where I was on set all day, the electricity around the house needed repair, I had my zine to get out, Easter shopping to do, projects that needed to be stitched....the list goes on. Things are getting completed now or are already completed. The Easter bunny came - I even got to play the Zumba game for Wii I got in my basket today!
On Saturday we got to spend the day in Sacramento. My zine is now carried in Phono Select - so if you are local go demand they carry more copies! We ate, went to Whole Foods, shopped and drank tea - nice and relaxed.

I am now in the middle of my Monday getting together new projects and ideas, thinking of my next zine and getting busy with words for the website This Dish Is Veg which I am now writing for! Right now a nap sounds nice...Maybe I will go take one!

Blue Buffalo Litter Review

We are a fan of Blue Buffalo cat food around here and the fact that every year they raise money for companion animal cancer research is great. So when shopping recently we were told about a new litter by Blue Buffalo from the store staff (they know how picky we are with cat litter and products). So we bought a bag and tried it out.

The litter is made from walnut shells and is 100% natural - I like that and the fact there is really no odor after Mar uses the box. That is about all I like about the litter. Mar does not like it - I can tell by how long he is in the box trying to cover things up. Also he has gotten litter clumps all around the box kicking around so hard. It states that it is low tracking - I found that it clung to Mar's paws a lot and tracked a lot more than other litters. It does clump well, a little to well. I had a hard time getting some clumps up.

Safe to say we are going back to our old litter. I like the promise of more natural products for cats on the market - I will continue trying new things and buying those that work!

The Stay At Home Girlfriend #1

Hey my new zine The Stay At Home Girlfriend is finished! Over the weekend I had the zine printed and started coloring each cover. This zine is a departure from my last - it is more personal and heartfelt! Issue one covers cat coat/skin care, vegan + gluten free recipes, my views on how vegans come in all shapes & sizes (a rant about veganisim being marketed as a diet) and crafty fun! Order your copy today!

Zevia Strawberry

I do not know how long Zevia has had a Strawberry flavor, I had never seen it around. Then I found it last weekend at the store and jumped for joy! I love this - it is my new fave flavor (sorry grape). It has that 80s soda taste that I liked as a kid! Mmmmm fruity!

Weekend Rush

Last week was just a blur of events that just lead us to filming for Matt's project in Oakland. It involved a lot of last minute prep and a long rainy cold day in Oakland.

I got to make guts for the movie! Matt did the shaping of the guts and I painted them. The pile of guts (2 blobs and 2 entrails) cost about 75 cents each to make. They are on the fragile side but look so much better than the 'deli guts' you see in the meat packaging around Halloween. We went of a tutorial online - simplified a few steps and it was fun. I will make a tutorial soon if Matt does not blog about it!

The day before the Oakland shoot we got to watch The Hunger Games - we chose an odd time and the theater was not so busy! I think the movie was good - I enjoyed it. Sure I had a few mini gripes - not enough violence (I am not a "gore whore" but the brutality of the games was missing)...and the part in the book that made me cry was missing (hint: a special parachute delivery for Katniss)...If you are a fan of the book you will dig the movie!

On Saturday in Oakland I was freezing cold during the shoot - it was nonstop rain! We had Hella Vegan Eats cater the set - the food was picked through by the time we got to the line so no pictures. The best thing in our opinion was the ceviche - with mushrooms - we do not even like mushrooms but it was so good!

Next Saturday is another shoot day and after that hopefully things will get back to normal!
