I am not one to tan or fake a tan - never have been a fan of what one might consider the 'healthy look'. I like avoiding the sun and staying a nice shade of pale. For me pale is a light shade of olive - somewhere between the light color of foundation and the medium shade found in stores. A lot of things that tend to be labeled medium look orange on me and things that are labeled light are too yellow! The woe I face when picking out suitable colors!
One area that I have had trouble with in the past is bronzers and countouring colors. These always tend to make me look muddy or like a self tan product newbie nightmare. So when I saw some good buzz online about Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer with Murumuru Butter (ingredient fact: yellow fat collected from seeds of the plant) I decided to pick one up. I paid around $10 for it and since buying it a few weeks ago I cannot stop using it.
The compact is very nice. Hard plastic with a compartment that houses a cute little foam applicator and mirror under the product. The smell is amazing - very tropical like sunblock without the funky chemical smell. I bought the light color and it goes on nicely with the sponge provided. I use it to contour my cheekbones, jaw and forehead. When applied to my nose it gets a bit cakey and needs extra blending. It is not as shimmery as it looks in the pan, it goes on subtle and blends well. This gives me the perfect look for hot weather temps and does not feel heavy. I would buy this again for sure! It is available at drug stores and big box stores and should be easy to find this season.

Renegade SF Winter 2013
I have not blogged much in the last few months, I apologize. I have had no motivation, no real aims or intentions for blogging as I work through my grief. However one of my goals in 2014 is to get back on track with blogging.
The weekend before Christmas (during winter solstice!) Matt and I stayed in San Francisco and hung out in the bay area. We went shopping, ate at some of our fave vegan places and tried new places. The high light was the Renegade Craft Fair (at least for me). It sparked some ideas in my brain, I got to see some friends and buy some fun stuff.
As you can see it was busy, my anxiety was pretty messed up during that weekend, all the crowds did not help.I always pick the best days to travel huh?
Some vegan beauty products I bought/shops I bought from were:
Fat and the Moon: Pimple Mud and Yoni Duster. Both items work great. The mask can be used as a spot treatment or a mask. I like the texture and the way it dries. The yoni dust saved me that weeken when I used disposable pads, I used a bit of dust on each pad and did not get heat rash!
Fanchromatic Nails: I liked how they featured standard and mini sized bottles of their polishes. I picked up Tar and Feathers - a bar glitter consisting of red, black and white - all my fave colors!
Cosmic Bath and Beauty: I am already a fan of the company so I had to buy something. Shop local even if you are 90 minutes away! I bought a cinnamon scented soap, it is so nice. After using it the smell travels through the house making me want snickerdoodle cookies and tea!
I could not leave Renegade without kitties! I always search for cute plushies and anything cat related. I scored a few new friends!
2014 - watch out. I have more crafts, vegan recipes, zines and cool stuff poppin' up on the blog! Get ready!

[Vegan MOFO Day 19] Good Enough To Eat: Fresh Perfumes
I like perfume...I like it to be clean and personal. When I say personal I mean I want to smell the scent on myself and if someone hugs me to smell it. I do not want to walk in a room and leave a trail of scent behind. I really hate when someone wears so much perfume it smells up the whole room and makes you feel ill. Also why do people feel the need to wear perfume to the gym?!?
I have tried a few of Fresh's fragrances, which are all vegan. I am currently wearing Cannabis Santal - which states it is a male fragrance but I find it unisex. I usually like fruity/foody scents but this is warm and sweet. It has notes of plum, chocolate and a woody note to it...Perfect for fall!
Fresh has scents ranging from fruity to musky...Sephora carries the line and you can spend the day just smelling all the scents! What fragrance are you wearing right now?

[Vegan MOFO Day 9] Good Enough To Eat: Satrbucks Freebies
Next time you are at Starbucks picking up your coffee with a splash of soy milk - hit up the bar area for free beauty booty.
Sugar in the raw packets: there is enough sugar in one lil packet to get your lips or elbows smooth. Take it home, add a bit of olive oil or coconut oil in a bowl with the sugar and massage onto you lips or a dry spot (avoid your face - the sugar is to course for the face area). Brush off of your lips or wash it off your dry spot. Sugary and soft!
Napkins: Recently I read that the napkins from Starbucks make great face blotters...I have oily skin and a few hours after putting on my makeup and running errands I can be pretty shiny. So I tried using the napkin to remove oil...It worked! It worked just as well as my pricey lil blotting sheets!
Now if only the chain would reverse their new gold card ruling and give us gold card users free soy milk again...
